Who is it for?
The SWFA Mini Academy is designed for boys and girls aged 4–6 years old, whether they are completely new to football or already enjoying playing the game. It’s the perfect introduction to football in a fun, friendly and supportive environment.
What will they learn?
At this age, the focus is on building the foundations of movement and football through repetition, exploration and lots of fun games.
Children will develop fundamental movement skills such as balance, coordination, agility, movement and spatial awareness, while beginning to build their relationship with the football.
Sessions will introduce simple football skills including dribbling, stopping and starting, changing direction, ball control and basic 1v1 skills.
The aim is to help children become more confident, coordinated and comfortable with the ball while developing a genuine enjoyment of football.
How much is it and how long will it run for?
The Mini Academy runs for 30 weeks throughout the football season.
£30 per month
To keep the programme consistent and allow us to plan the sessions effectively, the Mini Academy is offered on a monthly payment basis rather than pay-as-you-go.
Where are the sessions?
Sessions take place at Wellington Prep School on AstroTurf surface.
Children should wear suitable trainers or AstroTurf boots.
When are the sessions?
Every Tuesday.
6:00pm – 6:45pm
Each session lasts 45 minutes, providing the perfect amount of time for this age group to learn, play and have fun without becoming overwhelmed.
